Enable the ‘Easy Button’ With Savant’s Vision Agent

Video games and puzzles are always great fun, especially when you make steady progress advancing through the challenges they throw at you. But when you get stuck, it turns into head scratching, frustration, and frantically searching for a guide or solution to move forward.

Thankfully, we do live in an age where the internet provides us a good place to look things up. Even then, you still have to execute on solving the challenge by applying what you’ve just learned.

But not anymore, with the ‘easy button’: Savant’s Vision Agent.

Growing up, I loved the Where’s Waldo (or Wally, depending on your geography) books. But every now and then, I need a helping hand or an extra pair of sharp eyes — time to hit the easy button.

I can feed Vision Agent the image, enter a very simple prompt, hit the easy button, and just like that, it will find Waldo for me. Yes, it’s that easy!

In this example, Savant’s Vision Agent + LLM combo helps pinpoint where Waldo is.

This got me thinking, if the Vision Agent working alongside LLM can solve this problem… why can’t it be used in the business world? If it can spot a tiny character in a dense scene, can’t it also extract the specifics people spend hours eyeballing and manually rekeying — totals on invoices, dates on bank statements, vendor IDs on receipts, line items inside multi-page PDFs, and key fields on scanned certificates? 

Well, the short answer is: it can. There is an easy button for your data, whether that’s structured, tidy column data or unstructured, messy PDFs and images. And it doesn’t require the use of OCR, which fails if the document structure changes ever so slightly — a big part of why automating data extraction has been tricky using that approach.

Right now, with Savant, you can bring in your invoices, bank statements, tax forms… any document, you name it, and we can process it, pull data from it, and highlight a crucial data point or extract meaning from it.

Savant can even take pure images and help categorize them. Talk about an easy button!

At our recent summer offsite, we were talking about sending out an employee survey after it wrapped up. But then we thought, we have a whole bunch of photos taken… could we not just take those photos and rank the level of employee happiness without creating a manual survey and then analyzing it separately?
